Title: Flower
|
Exhibition I created this piece the way that I did because I wanted to do something that seemed simple, but also done in a way that would make it stand out. I also wanted to better my experience with this type of medium. I wanted to show that something that is so simple like a flower, still as potential to stand out in the world, and show everything its beauty.

Inspiration Andy Warhol is an artist that has inspired many of my works. Looking at his works and seeing them evolve one from another is exactly how I want my pieces to be. I want to be able to show progress in my works, and do that through experimenting with different techniques.
During my research for this piece, I was looking into all of the works that Warhol Created. While looking at this piece I discovered why something so simple was so important and could have such a huge impact. I discovered that this was the first piece that Warhol himself created which lead to him working more into the digital world. Moving on from painting and experimenting with a new kind of medium. I also took inspiration from these portraits of Marilyn Monroe that Warhol had also created. I wanted to use the same sort of vibrant colors that he did, in which I used to make my piece pop and be indifferent. pop art is something that I really love to show in my work, because it allows the viewers to see your piece in a way that is least expected. It is almost like a throw in the face, having everything jump out of there at once, but not be too overwhleming.

Process First Slide: This slide is the slide that shows the sketch that I imputed from my sketch book fron scanning, so I could trace it on photoshop with the brush tool.
Second Slide: This slide shows the drawing that I created using photoshop. This was actually a piece I created in my free time, and had no intention of actually using it, but I thought it turned out very well. But I knew more had to be done to it. Third Slide: This slide shows the process in which I changed the saturation to create a more vibrant color scheme. Experimenting with different tones, to get the right ones I was looking for. Fourth Slide: This slide is what my final piece came out to be after copying and pasting the original image, and editing the hues. I wanted to make sure that my colors together made sense, and didn't just seem as if it were thrown together. Fifth Slide: This side is the final piece that I decided to use after all the editing and finishing touches were done. I moved around an image to make the order of the pieces look spread out and make more sense. |
Reflection During this project, I ran into a bunch of difficulties, but had also used them to my advantage. The main problem that I had with this piece was drawing using photoshop. I am not very experienced with this medium, as it is something that I have only done once beforehand. I chose to use this medium because I wanted to do something different, and believed that it owuld be the best fit for the type of porject that I wasnted to create. Another difficulty, was making sure that my edges were clean, and the piece did not look messy. This was difficult to me because photoshop is not something that I can maneuver through easily. I was also using a bamboo tablet to complete the drawings, so drawing on there was also difficult.
However, through all the difficulties, it made me really take my time on this piece and enabled me to create something that I am proud of. It came out exactly the way I had hoped. Connection to ACT 1. My inspiration for this pieces comes from Warhol's use of simplicity, and also his use of vibrant hues to make things stand out, and make the viewer's eyes go all over the piece.
2. Warhol used this piece to show his proceding into the medium of digital instead of just using paints. This is the same kind of feel that I wanted to do for my piece. Show my talents expanding into something more. 3. From my research I was able to look deeper into the eyes of Warhol, and I feel as if I was able to realy undertand his work and create my piece to be something like his, but with my own techniques. 4. My central idea for this project was to expand my knowledge into the digital medium, and create something simple and that would draw in viewers. 5. In conclusion, I was able to create this work in a medium I was not very experienced in, and also take great inspiration and look deeper into the thoughts of Warhol's creativeness. |
